Unfair historic government favoritism always seems like a cherished right to the people who benefit from it. It's no wonder that people scream when their bennies are taken away. No one likes to lose a subsidy- whether it's for religion, or minority set asides.

Not being an atheist, I consider any prayer to anybody but God to be militant, and yes, in this country, that mostly means Little Baby Jesus, cuz he gets shoved in my face about a thousand gazillion times more often than Mohammad..
