Noticed that this speech was in September 2010 just before the Republicans swept into the House. Obama has as evidenced by that speech no idea of what it was like 40 years ago. That was 1970--------let's go back to the 1950's during the integration of public schools and after WWII. At that time very few people went to colleges or universities. With student loans made possible via the Federal Government and special education bills for veterans-------colleges, universities suddenly experience an influx of students not seen before. Let us not forget the scholarships by the Oil companies for foreign students. One did not have to be of any particular color. Even Obama's presumed father Barrack Obama , Sr. was given a paid for education beginning at the University of Hawaii in America. Integration had worked as people of all races got their educations. And, as the races were integrated------women were educated in universities along with the men. Many of those people have been very successful in their chosen field of endeavor without regard to their complexion or sex. When I look at the progress that was made during those years, I ask why should there have even been a Black Congressional Caucus in the early 1970's-----------by doing so, did they not separate themselves again. Here they were after having achieved a real dream, once again separating on the basis of color. There was no need for such separation in Congress. In America the concerns of people of any complexion were and are the same with the number one priority being the defense and offense of this nation. The best thing that the Black Congressional Caucus could do would be to cease their separation in congress and integrate much as Americans did in the 1950's and 1960's. There is no need for any one of those Congressman or Congresswomen to separate based on complexion, color.
