"These S&P guys" say that the process that should have been rational and simple to raise the debt ceiling to cover already incurred debts was destructive to the view of others of our ability to pay our debts. There is no doubt about our ability to pay our debts but suggesting, yes even wanting, default from a treasonous, crazy right wing teabagger part of the repug party that Boehner and other repug leaders could not or would not control has been destructive. They (you) care more about their "religion" than the country.

Unfortunately you were "fleeced" at birth, maybe even earlier. I wish I could do something for you but try google...brain science is moving rapidly.

It very much reminds me of the stimulus bill. There was this mad rush to avoid the inevitable (in this case, the downgrade, which everyone who knows about this stuff seems to agree was coming, regardless).

It makes for bad law when this sweeping legislation is created under duress. And it is a result of one thing only: Failed leadership on the parts of the Democrats. It was the Democrats who failed to present ONE THING resembling a budget.

Obama couldn't say "shit" if his mouth was full of it. He's a weak, spineless, ineffectual president. It was his job to press this issue before it became critical. He can't make the law, but he damned well can use his presidency to apply pressure to the parties who can.
