The problem is how do you do that and still tell the truth? I do wish I was more skilled at it. Look at the mess we are in. The reason, IMO, is that few and including the MSM, are telling it like it is. Good god, we let Bush take us into a war in Iraq that was so transparently bullshit it makes one dizzy thinking about how blase we were about it. Worse, dems like Hillary Clinton voted for it because they were afraid to oppose a war. Any war. Because the American people vote out anyone who opposes any war, or even cutting military spending. Only two people stood against the Tonkin Gulf Resolution: Wayne Morse of Oregon and Earnest Greuning of Alaska. Both intellectual giants and very good people; and both were voted out of office in the next election. That history lesson wasn't/isn't ever wasted on the dems/liberals in congress when Bush and the Republicans push for war or stupid defense spending. Even now few talk about cutting defense, or raising taxes. which is where the most pork and solutions lie. In 2010 the nutso right wingers were voted in, en masse. The people voted them in, once again in all their stupidity. The MSM is even afraid to tell the truth. There is a major difference between right and left but few news outlets ever point that out. Most of the problems we have have been caused by the right not the left. But only MSNBC tells it like it is. CNN, e.g. continues to act like the Tea party has a valid point andd treats the right and left equally. And they end up with very mediocre thinking. Except for Fareed Zakaria. In the 60's we faced the same absurd recalcitrance when it came to telling the simple truth e.g. civil rights, opposing the Viet Nam war and the right to live an existential life, gay equality, racial equality, gender equality, environmental sanity, etc. We found we needed to: blow their mind" (i.e. tell the simple truth) to break through their fantasy world. It is hardest to tell the simple truth simply, without offending people. Look at someone like Bentway. He is one of the most perceptive people on SI and had among the most ignores. Those ignores came from telling the simple truth people did not want to hear, but they could not counter his arguments because they are factually and logically correct. So they put him on ignore. This country must face the truth or perish. Fascism is knocking on our door. The behavior of the Republican party the last 10 years has set the stage for an Orwellian future. <<Perhaps if you showed kindness rather than dismissal of people and engaged them, they wouldn't need cable tv to edecate them to proper thinking. Ya know, it's been said by some fine white liberals... they just need to edecate them black people better on how Obama has betrayed them so they'd stop supporting him. oh, the kindness of white liberals just astounds.
