A country's debt is not analogous to a household debt. Doing so is simplifying it. The country has vast resources compared to the limited resources of a family. The vast resources of the country enable it to come right back from a debt situation. In a family, due to the limited resources, the debt may and in most cases do ruin the family.

In years past, the US has gone into debt such as during the Reagan and Sr's years. And the country came right back and Clinton took it into the black. Credit not so much to Clinton and the Congress. Credit goes to the American people, their work ethics, their ability to see and grab opportunities so as to turn things around.

I judge the Tea Party and their goals by the candidates that excite them. folks like Palin, Bachman, Sharon Angle, the one from Delaware (all airheads). And now they are shopping for a candidate and heavily leaning towards Perry, an advocate of secession. I don't know how you find the Tea Party that exciting and along with them the candidates they support.

"You are in debt what will you do?"

Work overtime. AKA increasing revenues.

"You are still in debt what do you do"

Work more overtime.

It always worked for me.

Neil, here is what no one will say. The Republican's always spend all the money (i.e. give away ot the rich)e.g. little bush, and then want to cut when the dems get in power and want to spend on the poor or middle class.

Not a peep, and not one bill vetoed, for the 6 years bush and the republican congress ran things from 2000 ot 2006. And the debt soared, almost doubling from give away tax cuts and stupid defense spending.

NOW they want to cut spending!!!
