I appreciate the altruism. Although, of course, if everybody buys gold, driving up the price, that will make you that much richer, so not entirely altruistic. But there is nothing wrong with that.

I seem to recall that for about as long as you have been telling me to buy gold, I have been telling you that China needs human rights, that all people want to be happy. I would be happy to say the same thing to someone living in North Korea, or Cuba, but of course I cannot. But maybe someday.

As for me, I filed two bankruptcy cases today, first time in a while. Five in the past week or so. Not exactly altruism, but I do enjoy freeing debt slaves.

What will happen when Americans cut up their credit cards and pay cash or do without, living within their means? Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without. It will be interesting to see.

What will happen when Chinese factories stop making useless crap that breaks easily and start making good things, things that are well made and last a long time? Anything worth doing is worth doing right. It will be interesting to see.

Our premises do not differ all that much, is my guess. I believe in going to school, making good grades, working hard, kicking ass and taking names. I believe in getting married, and being faithful to your spouse. I believe that if you are fortunate to have children, you take care of them. I believe in buying a house in a good neighborhood, and taking care of it. I believe in getting up every day and going to work and doing your job, and if you run out of things to do, asking if there is anything more you can do. I believe that voting is not only a right but a privilege. I believe that with every right comes responsibilities.

Etc. I have a lot of beliefs. Which probably don't differ all that much from yours.
