<<The Oyster Bar The Oyster Bar >>

Years ago I went to Maryland to shoot geese. There was an oyster place that had all you could eat for a buck 99 for lunch. Even better was an oyster bed in front of the blind. wade out and slice them open. That's fresh. We stayed at the Tidewater Inn and the Keating 5 were there. Let my dog into the dining room for breakfast with 5 senators at the next table.

Didn't know about the Oyster Bar (he likes them, and there's only ONE way I like them....) BUT we did go to this place while there for lunch....sorta upscale tavern....and prices aren't terrible either....We both wish there was a place like this nearby here....

Tipsy Oysters.....from an old time fisherman and long time friend...

Sounds terrible but is REALLY good.... and SOOO Easy

1) Heat oven to 250 degrees.
2) Put oysters in jar on cake cooling rack in a cookie sheet pan with a lip and foil lining the bottom of the sheet..
3) Let them bake until they are totally dried up like prunes. About 3-4 hours or so.
4) Mix a cube of butter (melt in sauce pan) with a 1/2 to 3/4 cup or so of white wine....
5) Add dried up oysters....gently simmer on low heat on stove for 1/2 hour. Take off heat.

Then serve them in a nice little container, with lots of toothpicks to hold them nearby..

Every time I've made these, people eat them before anything else....Never met anyone who didn't like them...
