Will you rather take the federal sales tax which tends to hit lower-middle class more than a raise in income tax in general? Moderate tax hike is a good way to reduce the debt burden for the US. Corporate entitlements are another big one, too bad these changes will hit the fat pigs who unfortunately are also the bunch with most influence to politicians. Obama has lots of good idea (alternative energy, HSR eHealth...) but without the support of those pigs, he drove the economy from bad to worst. All the money spent on bailout the criminals instead of infrastructure and we are all screwed.
