The feelings are real. I'd never suggest they weren't. People fear ghosts. Some people are sure they were probed by aliens. The underlying thing you have the feelings about need not be real to have the feelings. It seems to me when you can reproduce a sensation with electrical stimulation, and when the "real" world stimuli is invisible (as ice cream is not) you might wonder a little about the nature of the stimulus, and whether it isn't something other than an invisible creature.

Or maybe you don't wonder that. And that's ok.
