Really pathetic. Shoot the messenger mode. They're even attacking the S&P, comparing their downgrade to the "Catholic Church lecturing scout leaders on the proper behavior toward boys":

Hmmm, yeah, they were kind of making fun of the messenger...for a number of reasons...but that wasn' t the crux of the commentary...the point was that republicans are rigidly hanging on to an austerity stance only when the country needs critical investments as well(bloomberg and others)....and of course the point that one can't cut his way out of the problem...some new revenue (taxation, reform, etc...) must be part of the initiatives and that seems impossible now with the republicans...

We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act.

To some extent this is silly since nothing is required for these tax cuts to expire at the end of 2012...
