Exactly.

(It's all in the TIMING.)

The economy was 'on the mend' after the stock market crash and onset of Depression and the initially counter-cyclical stimulative action that the government took.

THEN they BOTH raised taxes AND cut spending!

(Same Congress, same TIME.)

Immediately after which the country fell back into a deeper, more prolonged Depression.

(Anything sound depressingly familiar about that sequence of events????????????)
