Proving that one has to go back a long time in the statistics to find such a 'golden era' for corporate profits.

For a period of a couple of decades, while not all that long ago corporate profits as a percentage of GDP where down at a level similar to that of much of the 70s and 80s which is the lowpoint unless you go all the way back to the 30s.

Not that all of this matters much to me. If record corporate profits are because corporations are doing well that's a good thing. If its because they are getting government handouts, the problem is the government handouts, not the profit level. If its because economic and political uncertainty are pushing down hiring and wage increases, the problem is the economic and political uncertainty. The percentage of corporate profits is not a problem, the reason why we have a particular percentage might be but then we should focus on the reason, not the number.
