What has made this country strong is that we welcome and embrace people who have had different experiences during their formative years. They bring a new perspective that allows us to innovate. Not to say that Obama has succeeded in that, but his upbringing is not really the issue here IMHO. THe issue is that, like W, he does not really enjoy playing the "game" the way Clinton, Reagan, Nixon, Johnson, JFK did. I think that there is a good chance that we will see him saying that he will not seek or accept the nomination.

The whole point of the natural born citizen clause was to keep European nobility from carpet-bagging in America. That is completely irrelevant at this time. It only hurts America to make these arguments about birth and upbringing, possibly scaring away talented immigrants who can help us grow and be strong just as immigrants always have. The last thing we need is to close our borders to great and ambitious minds. If they feel unwelcome they will go to other countries where they feel more free. Not a problem yet at all. We still offer plenty of freedom, but these kinds of arguments threaten to diminish it rather than strengthen it, all of course, IMHO.
