Who is gonna say, give me a couple of millions because I want to do a worthless study because my dept head told me to go out and get some federal grant money, the school could use it. And don't forget to use some BS terms like," I think the findings will benefit the American people, too." no wonder we are 14 trillion in debt, but with those feel good terms, we all feel good

This is "Penny wise, pound foolish" politics. It is small thinking. In their constrained thought domain, they are incapable of thinking beyond such non sensical issues as "Chinese whores", "mating bees" etc. They fail to see that to become big as a nation, we need to think big such as R&D, a good education system, worker retraining etc. We just cannot afford to live like cavemen and think that it is only killing other people in a war etc. etc. that will progress this nation.
