If "revenue" is the problem, why did Obama and the Pelosi-Reid Congress not raise taxes 8 months ago?

That is a bit of ingenuous question coming from you, isn't it, Brumar?

First of all, they weren't going to raise taxes willy-nilly in the economic environment that we have been in. Second, they wanted to maintain some of the tax cuts while allowing others to expire. Specifically, they wanted to tax cuts to remain for people making less than $250,000, but the Republicans refused to go along with that, they insisted on all of the cuts remaining in place or none of them. All or nothing--sound familiar? Here is a summary: businessweek.com

Finally, at the eleventh hour when the cuts were to expire, the Democrats cut a Faustian bargain with the Republicans to extend all the cuts in return for the Republicans agreeing to extend unemployment benefits.

I'm sure I don't have to actually explain this to you, do I?
