I think its a combination of 2 things:

Silver is part commodity and part money. This split personality is keeping it level for the moment aided by ridiculous paper shorting.

If gold doesn't get margin calls and can maintain a level near 1,800.00 for a few weeks then I think the traditional ratios will come back. So if gold stays up look for silver to keep pressing onwards but resisting paper shorts are hard. You CANNOT fight paper.
