I believe what we saw is the same thing we saw last year.

Both sides refused to do what needed to be done.

I don't see President Obama going against the union's no vote on the recommendations, that may be one reason he didn't invoke the 14th amendment.

I am not happy with Obama because he has refused to use the power of the Presidency to improve the country. The President has to protect this country against all internal and external threats. He failed to perceive the political infighting as a threat to the economy. It is unfortunate that S&P saw this instability and infighting as a threat before he did. From what I understand, he could have invoked the 14th amendment if he did not get the 4T which not only he but also the Simpson-Bowles commission asked for.

That's just it.........most everyone on this thread thinks they know what Obama is thinking. Most everyone is unhappy with Obama. Most everyone thinks they know what is the best way for him to act. Most everyone thinks they know that Obama is weak. Most everyone thinks they know that Obama isn't really a liberal. Most everyone thinks they made a mistake voting for him.

Can't you see, Chinu, that's part of the problem that ails us? We elected Obama because we believed that he could be a good president but instead of letting him do his presidency the way he sees fit, we nuance him to death. He never does anything well enough to please a sizeable number of people......certainly not the a majority of the people on this thread. Forget that the circumstances in DC are beyond bad.........that the country is extremely divided and partisan; that every time he moves he has to be careful not to set off another land mine. And if that wasn't bad enough, there are Americans out here in the hinterland whom Obama can never please simply because he is black.

I say we trust that Obama has much more info than anyone else does on this thread or in this country about what is going on in DC and what ails it, and based on this info, he is doing what he thinks is best for the country. And then we need to chill out and stop playing monday morning quarterback every two seconds. Give the guy some room to breathe. In the end, it will all work out. Trust.
