(OT) It is entirely possible, maybe even likely, that there is

an operating principle that says something like "for success, corporate response must match public need." That would explain, at the very least, the state of drugs, the quality of television, the entertainment and sports industry, and the focus of media (blogs and almost everything else included).

Whatever is responding is aiming for the averages, because that is where most of the mass is.

At the risk of Einstein kicking my butt from here to the furthest galaxy (which, incidentally, is 13.2 billion light years from Earth ---- so its residents won't hear about the S&P downgrade until after all our personal plans are right next to the remains of Joan of Arc and some wisp of dinosaur) that E=M*C^2 says this must be what it takes to yield the most corporate energy, given fixed light speed.

In sum, corporate TV is targeting the average brain. If Cramer is the arrow, their view of us as the target is pitiful. It must mean, on average, we deserve him. Until the average smarts goes up.

(About light being the fastest thing ....... I've seen pot-smokers with lit joints run from the hostel warden, in college, with a speed even light might envy on a good day).

:)
