I blame both sides based upon my view of history we do know. Both sides rejected the Bowles-Simpson commission recommendations last year. Now in the debt ceiling increase agreement just passed, a congressional committee will be formed composed of members who are more than likely, be of the same mindset that rejected the Bowles-Simpson recommendations, trying to come up with new recommendations. I see nothing meaningful happening except the passage of time. Both sides are jostling with an eye on the next election instead of realizing the clock has run out.
