It's interesting that the swing vote seemed to be the growers. Many of them wanted it to remain illegal.

It was, by a few percentage points I believe.

Demographic trends though (polling of the various age groups) seem to show that most likely very soon (a decade or less) it will be a lead pipe cinch to pass there.

Get the business out of the hands of mobsters (like during Prohibition) and into responsible tax-paying hands.

(PS --- I did hear that a lot of the larger pot growers in CA voted *against* the legalization ballot initiative, they were sure that it would take their profits away, that they do much better under the current 'illegal' status quo. Believe that might have accounted for the couple of percentage points that the initiative lost by. Can't expect someone to take money out of their own pockets voluntarily. :-)
