It was a huge waste of money and time. Many people on local news were angry they had to vote again...we do not want retaliation recalls in Wisconsin.

Jorj,

I found this to be an interesting statement:
"I'm in a private union, so they haven't necessarily come after me," Spencer said. "But everybody should have the right to be in a union. I came out to stop all the union-bashing stuff."

I believe that everybody also should have the right to NOT be in a union. Do you agree?

I agree with you that individuals have a right to be represented by a union or not. But, having run Representative Elections whether a union should be the representative agent for a group of employees the election of a majority of the employee in a democratic election should be the model as to how an employee is represented.

The courts have stated that when the collective bargaining unit has won/bargained to increase the wages, rights and terms for its members that the non joiners can not be discriminated against. Many unions especially in the public sector, even though the individual does not join the union, may require the employee to pay a representative fee (agency shop) for the union bargaining representation since they get the same wages, hours and terms and conditions of employment as the members.

However, in a union shop many contracts require a probation period and then must join the union if they chose to remain employed by the corporation. Free loaders are not accepted - and yes may are ostracized by per pressure.

It is similar to paying a tow to drive on a tow highway. A person has the right to use the highway but if they chose to do so then they have to pay the tow.
