A couple of years ago Pepsi came out and said We think we will exceed Coke's Coca Cola Classic sales, and this was at the time they had Michael Jackson at their side (and he was still very popular) and used him in all their commercials. Coke basically did not do anything special and just continued to sell and beat Pepsi in every single category!

Similarly Burger King has come out with a new burger called Big King in order to beat Big Mac, and they also have said (actually just this morning as I came to work I heard it on the news) that We think we will exceed mc Donnald's sales of Big Mac!

Similarly HP has come out and said that We think we'll exceed (Sun's 12-month Starfire) revenues,!

All three companies are leaders in their own fields competing with more established players in the same sector, However thinking (and wishing what they want) is definitly different than what reality would give them in all 3 cases!

Addi Jamshidi

P.S - By the way I am a HP shareholder but the reason I am invested in HP is not particularly because of their server business.
