Why don't you think that the markets would think we have a strong President and a better political climate with a veto.

Obama lost the markets a long time ago. Did you see what happened last Friday when he spoke? The Dow went down another 200 pts. When he caught bin Laden, the markets didn't rally. The markets think Obama is pro labor/pro unions/pro the little guy. They hate him.

That's what makes koan's and wharf's posts so comical. They think Obama is pro business.

My understanding is that we would have a default if we failed to pay our interest on the debt. Right now, nobody is in charge and the rats are running around. The cat needs to wake up and restore order, not some other outside terrorist with a 9/11 style attack. You would never want to wish that on this country even if you are a Teaper, I suppose. But it looks like the Teapers are behaving that way where they are saying if the terrorists do not do it with bombs we will do so by using the "dark side" of a democratic process where you tell the minority to go to hell instead of compromising and taking baby steps towards their goal.

In a marriage, the only way you can make it work if both parties are willing to work at it. The Rs are the spouse who absolutely refuses to do anything.......go to counseling, meet halfway, compromise, do half the chores.......nada. The other spouse can rant and rave.......threaten physical violence.........but its not likely to do squat. That's why this situation is so bad. You want Obama to smack the Rs around a bit to get them to cooperate.......even if that were legal, its not likely to make a difference.

That's what no one here on this thread seems to understand.........the Rs don't want to be married to anything that smacks of Obama or the Dems. They need to get a divorce but that's not possible. So we are stuck in this unholy marriage that is driving the country off a cliff. The Rs are desperately trying to take the country back from the Obama and the Dems, and are willing to do nearly anything they can to make that happen including sending the country back into recession. We are at war! I don't know how to make it any clearer than that. If you posted at all on the FAMD thread for any period of time, you would understand
.

In meantime, all we do here is mostly fight among ourselves. Its the equivalent of fiddling while Rome burns.
