<Nazarbayev ... will sign at least two ... oil deals at a State
Departement ceremony on Tuesday afternoon>

Well, my watch says its Tuesday afternoon. Just checked for news
on the Mobil deal - none found yet.

BTW, it is my understanding that Pres. Nazarbayev had arrived on
Sunday and was planning to meet with high-level officials from
Mobil either Sunday or Monday. Probably related to this "offshore"
deal, but maybe it's related to other deals involving Mobil as well.
Only time will tell.

Also, I thought that had read somewhere earlier on this thread
that Khazakstan had not yet opened its offshore territories for
bidding. Did I mis-read it? If not, then how could these companies
be signing a deal for "offshore" oil?

Regards,
JT (way long)
