seems that we have reached a kind of 1968 point in history.

Maybe NATO should enforce a no-fly zone over London and declare the rioters the legitimate government of the UK.

Because in Egypt, the middle class revolted, in England, not.

Actually, in western countries, a real revolution is led by the lesser members of the upper class. Younger brothers, second sons.

When the lower classes riot, and loot, they are just letting off steam. Burning cars and smashing windows is not a revolution.

<i find it odd> Me too. Economic pain always causes social unrest, in every country. I blame those decision-makers, in Egypt and England and everywhere else, who are responsible for the economic mis-management, which gives so many alienated young men no hope for the future.

TJ, are you really not able to tell he difference? In Egypt, did you see loads of plasma tvs, shoes, Sony as the main goal, and burning of businesses after looting them? Suppose the rioters had "won" in England. What political system do you suppose they would have installed?

You are just expressing your Anglophobia TJ. Maybe it's just racism. Or payback - "that will tteach the blighers for selling opium in China". Blaming descendants for past actions of other people is racism in spades. I note that while some English gentlemen were also rioting, Peckham is a region if immigrants. When wandering around that ancestral homeland a couple of weeks ago, it was obvious that few of my relatives still live there.
