Hi JFT,

Long time no hear. Losing a bundle since we last spoke. Only my few shares of APCC still doing well.

Have been in and out of INTU a bit lately. Currently out, but not short. Here are some thoughts:

First, QW8 does show short sales on capital gains report, but you still cannot record a short sale without using a different security name. They could have done it much better.

QW98 is that bad. But I am going to keep mine. It is becoming more of a subscription program, like Turbo Tax, than one purchased for upgrades.

QW98 adds some (very few) nice features like downloading from the internet. Since the program has gotten so complex in recent years, the poor quality of tech support has become very apparent. With your version, you never needed tech support, so it was not an issue.

It seems like Intuit is pursuing buzzword marketing more than useful functionality.

They are however the only real game in town (if you ignore Microsoft). I say this in that in the future MSFT will probably be prevented from dominating the OS market as well as every software sector. INTU does have the distinction of being the company MSFT couldn't buy.

So INTU should play a major role in the future of personal finance. But can they make some real profits doing it?

Also, I believe I read that there has been some substantial insider selling lately. Can anyone confirm this, or post amounts involved?

I am going to get back into INTU. I'm just not sure what the right price is. My advice would not be of much value at this point.

Good luck,

jas

< Is Quicken 98 that bad?>

Don't know, but customer service for ALL of Intuit's products really sucks. I don't see these guys in business if this continues (and it's gone from bad to worse over the last year).
