In 1960, the middle class was better off than today. I know because I graduated from Law School in 1961. My Law School tuition was $300 per year and I was hired by the State AG which was the first job I applied for. I was able to go to school without loans because I could work at high paying union jobs in the summer. With those high tax rates, the middle class was much better off and they are being eliminated today by the accumulation of wealth at the top.
