My firm tried to contact Putnam-Greene Financial about this story. They completely stonewalled us at the front desk!

My belief is that there must be some history between the FDIC and Putnam-Greene for it to have been selected for such devastatingly distinguished honor.

I also tried to contact the appropriate Deputy Supervisor at the FDIC to find out what conditions led the FDIC to this action. If I get the results, I'll post them here.

Also, Market Partners has acquired the rights from American Banker to reprint the story for the next three months (it'll disappear from the AB Online page soon). The MPI URL is marketpartners.com
