Here's gold in euros using a standard 20 period average.

And same chart with a period of 50 (longer averaging time).

So... the 50 one is a better indicator of overbought or oversold and price will return within bands at some point?

Standard Deviation of 2 is fine. We are only looking for ballpark numbers.

These settings also work for other time periods.

Note the high volume shortly before the peaks - fleece the optimistic retail buyers.
Nice double bottom at the far right edge of the chart - gearing up for an autumn rally ???
