No. I am doing that empires come and go - with systems and incentive structures that work well enough to keep them stable for long periods. The British empire was just one of the recent ones, and you may be partial to it because of your familiarity with it.

Anglo-American empire's success is partially based on its financial innovations. However, these innovations are facing challenges, as you are seeing right now. If this financial structure fails, the mayhem that it would create would tarnish the empire's reputation in spite of 300 years of successes it has achieved. Unfortunately, the world has not yet created and tested a successful alternate to this structure.
