Hmm, I agree with most of that too. You're right, it's a complex topic that gets to the core of everything. Who has the answers? No one, of that you can be sure. Certainly not me. I was just pointing out some logical issues with the argument.

I was raised a Christian but now I'm an atheist, as I think it's the most humble position. Not knowing, I don't pretend to "believe" that I do. How does that make me arrogant? I don't see it. Tell me if you wish, I'm curious.

Conversely, I find dogmatic religious people (many are non-dogmatic of course) to be insufferably arrogant. They have the right answer, written in some book somewhere, and are quite willing to preach to the rest of us their belief. Almost always, their "truth" happens to be the same truth of the society around them. If you're born in Texas you think Baptists have the truth, in Utah that Mormons, in the Phillipines the Pope, and in Pakistan you're 100% sure Mohammad is the ticket. Rarely are these people aware of other religions or basic science. Obviously that detracts from their credibility. It's all nonsense as far as I'm concerned. (But I could be wrong. Maybe in the end a god comes down from the sky and tells us something like Hari Krishna turns out to be the One True Faith. Wouldn't that be a hoot?).

Back to gods: I'm open to the idea of a god or gods. But I see no evidence of them and so don't believe. But I'm always ready to be convinced.
