Romney didn't focus on Iowa because of the known ideological zones of much of the Iowa Republican party. As for Pawlenty, I have no serious idea. My guess, and it's definitely only that, is that that faction of the Rep Party is looking for the ideologically pure who display themselves in the strongest possible voices as such. Pawlenty wasn't up to that standard. But remember the sample here. It's only the evangelical portion of the Iowa Rep Party that's available to be bussed into Ames for the poll. I continue to think the Iowa Rep Party can do this all they want. The failure is not there. It's the media which treats this circus as if it's serious politics. And by treating it as such, tends to create it. As such.
