Why does one need a physician for that?

There is a big difference between letting some die naturally and killing someone.

Also, people can and do come back from the brink on their own. Happened to my wife's grandma. Was in a deep coma after a brain injury. She was in hospice for a week when she woke up, asked for food. Lived happily for another 8 years. Having an MD available to step in was crucial in her case.
