The problem with Groupon is actually quite simple - it lacks a sustainable competitive advantage, or any sort of barrier (financial, or otherwise) to keep imitators out. Thus, there are hundreds of imitators out there. Further, my experience with Groupon is that it is aggravating - far too much junk mail in my In-Box.
