I already pointed out one such consequence. Buffett himself will just reallocate his investment funds. Most other investors, especially managers of huge funds, will do the same thing. What do you think that will do to the stock market?

Absolutely nothing...it's not like we haven't had higher taxes on capital gains before...this is not an experiment, there's lots of history to look to...

Rich guys like Buffett will just reposition himself, then continue to act like he isn't taxed enough. THAT'S the real scam here.

I think that's an attribution or a projection...you can't know what you just said to be true...in any case the idea is to make the tax code less vulnerable to manipulation and escape mechanisms.

The real solution is to stick to the notion of "shared sacrifice" and spread the pain everywhere. Don't tell me that the middle class here in America can't afford it, and don't tell me that those who are dependent on a government "fixed income" can't afford it, either.

You won't get an argument from me on that general idea...i think that we've reached the point in tax receipts where all but the poorest should pay a little more...along with spending cuts of course. I don't think we can nor is it fair to close the debt gap with spending cuts alone...
