Of course, I don't believe for a moment that such a tax hike will mean the end of America as we know it. But these actions have consequences, often unintended. And for people who think these moves will only affect the "rich," they're going to be in for a rude awakening, especially when their 401(k) plans take a hit.

In the grand scheme of things this is a really a nit...would it alter people's "investing" habits? I doubt it greatly...there are far more potent forces that move markets and people's investment strategies than a few bucks in taxes...the 90s is a good example of that point. Large investment firms will not be content to put anymore than the typical prudent % of funds in low yielding bonds...

Personally I see it as the first significant vote of no confidence in public policy. And I believe that we are in a policy bubble.

Theirs was a vote of no confidence because of the lack of public policy...the inability to do anything due to rigidity of ideologies...

Al

CNN’s Gary Tuchman reported Monday on a fundamentalist Christian couple who killed their 7-year-old adopted daughter while practicing a violent form of discipline.

They reportedly beat their nine children regularly because they thought God wanted them to. Both parents were jailed after pleading guilty to the crime and the surviving children are now in foster homes.
