Off Topic. Smoking and drinking...always a difficult subject.

I like to think about these habits in the context of WWII.

Churchill liked his cigars and always had his first glass of champagne by 11:00 AM followed by whiskey and sodas over the day. After an afternoon nap, it was then more champagne, with plenty of bordeaux with dinner followed by French brandy and whiskey and sodas well into the night working at the Citadel in London running the war.

Roosevelt always had the obligatory cigarette and champagne and plenty of martinis in the afternoon and into the evening and always that great smile and vigor even though he was crippled with polio.

Adolf Hitler didn't smoke, didn't drink and was a vegetarian.

Now I'm not saying that not smoking and drinking turns you into a Nazi (although some non-smokers behave like the Gestapo - just try lighting up anywhere nowadays and you'll see what I mean - meanwhile get mugged in the street and nobody gives a damn - it's your fault for being in the street in the first place!).

What I am saying is that being human and enjoying life whatever way you choose is okay. People today are so stressed out over trying to be what society (fashion) expects them to be that they have forgotten how to just be themselves - living long but possibly miserable lives.

I say be an individual and if you feel like having a bloody good smoke and a drink go and have one and if you don't then that's fine too.

Oh and don't forget when you blow .01 over the limit after a couple of beers on Friday night drinking with the boss to keep your job you're a criminal, but when you drink 30 beers, blow .30 and beat someone half to death in a bar then you are innocent because you were so drunk you didn't know what you were doing unless of course you were seen smoking a cigarette at the time which means you will get no sympathy whatsoever and the judge will throw away the key before he goes to the nearest cigar club on the way home.
