Agreed! If we learn NOTHING else, we must have learned on 9-11......NEVER again!

Hang on then. You've got a nuclear Iran/Turkey coming up against Israel, with a hostile Egypt, a helpless Europe, and a Saudi Arabia with nothing but money. If the Sunni's can't get Iraq back, the weight swings big time to the Shia and Iran. It's like watching a slow moving train wreck. You see a way to stop Iran? One that our elites would go for? I don't. This country is going to take a decade at least to recover the will or the means to put ground troops anywhere, and by that time the downsizing of the services will have taken that ability away.

How big is the Army going to be if they take away "20 years and out," otherwise known as a defined benefit plan? Who's going to sign up when there's no financial security if you get your limbs blown off? They can't take Iran out with surgical strikes. It's too big. You can't occupy with the "new small army" that is planned. The military is trying to win with surgical strikes, like the drone planes. You can see it with that supersonic drone that just blew up. Even if they get the plane, anonymous, almost instantaneous air kills aren't going to win, just make us more hated and feared. How much good has it done in Afghanistan? In the meantime, the mini wars and the welfare state drain the country.

We need a breather and a new administration. Time to heal, not rattle sabers.

First, 9/11 did not involve a nation, but a movement.

Second, it did not involve nukes.

Third, our resources are limited. We cannot go after every threat we can imagine unless we plan on being in some sort of a war forever. Somalia, Yemen, Libya, some -stans we probably do not know about, etc., where does it end?

What domestic terrorist threat have we stopped by going after the lunatic in weird garb in Libya?

Our military is bloated. The money it spends is unbelievable. We cannot afford it and much of what is done has nothing to do with defending our nation.
