First of all, Obama didn't give them everything that they wanted. I was disappointed with a lot of things over the past couple of years too, but looking at the alternatives, I sure don't want to see them in office. Even the Obama of the past few months and the Obama that didn't make the case for a single payer health care system, as I would have wanted and still believe is necessary, even that Obama is better than any Republican running for the Presidency right now. Or any Republican who is likely to run. I wouldn't mind Howard Baker. Whoops, he would be drummed out of the party today, called a RINO. You want to see a Roberts or Alito clone (likely worse, IMHO, given the way the RW has been acting over the past couple of years) replace Ginsbeg? Because apparently she won't be leaving until death or really severe illness do her part. The only thing left for the Democrats to do if Obama does lose would be to abuse minority rights in the Senate, because they likely would be the minority if a Republican wins the WH. And if they do get the unity and the backbone to act in the shameful ways that Republicans have been acting over the past 3 or so years, the Republicans are likely to just change the rules to eliminate the very rights that they have been abusing. That is what they do--they did it with Rule 4 in the Judiciary committee back in '03 I think it was to eliminate any minority input at all into nominations, and they will do again with any rule that gets in their way. There is nothing but shame to stop them, and they are shameless. Especially now, when they see the opportunity to stick a dagger in the heart of the New Deal and most of what grew out of that time.
