Two of my neighbors who very recently graduated from college: one is working at a yarn store as a clerk; the other is unemployed but hoping to get this job he's applied for walking dogs part time.

In my neighbourhood.. (mid-upper middle class.. ) more folks have pools than not, most have multiple cars, homes >400K on the lower end.. a few > a million.. (I am below median :O) a LOT of homes have a couple of pickup trucks.. with commercial plates.. lots of self employed tradesmen.. carpenters, tilers... etc etc.. yeah university education not for all.. a waste for many... but not necessarily bad.. unless it costs 100K :O) pretty inexpensive here in the frozen north... 65K - 80K for undergrad including residence.. good school.. knock off maybe 45K if living at home.. crazy in US it looks like...

university not going to make a dumbo smart... and lots of smart folks never go or need it... not a panacea...
