Re: "1. They are still unfinished."

Absolutely true.

And the military industrial complex is pushing hard to continue apace.

Re: "Did you want him to stay for another 4?"

Absolutely not.

Re: "2. There was some bad luck that he ran into (does the phrase sound familiar), like Katrina and 911."

True, true. Hang around office long enough and disasters are likely to emerge 'out of the blue' as it were....

o I suppose the real test is how effectively you can SOLVE the messes, and how much wrack and ruin you leave behind for the next guy. (By that measure Clinton looks pretty good....)

Re: "3. Do you recall who was in charge of congress for those 8 years, when it comes to financial messes?"

Sure.

Modern (post 'sixties, say...) Congress have ALL been populated with gutless wonders who are all in favor of 'free lunches', the better to prop-up their next political campaign..., and always in favor or ever bigger deficits.

But, in eras past we always had at least whatever Party was currently on the 'outs', currently in opposition, who would stand up for fiscal prudence.

That has been utterly lost in the last 30 years.
