Who am I to say is he's the worst or not? Only history will tell.

Your argument makes some sense. I understand that politicians need to start from where people are, not from where you wish they were. Perhaps my biggest complaint, thought, is that Obama has not carried through on the outrage that got him into office. He's stood by while misinformation runs rampant. Whether it's a majority of those who supported him or not, there are are significant number of those who are bitterly disappointed.

In the minds of many, Obama represents the greatest bait and switch of the modern era. Even the working class people swayed by value issue divisiveness were burnt out on Republicanism by the end of Bush. And who in their right mind would have wanted to inherit that mess? Liberals and progressives are getting rowdy? Let’s provide them with a candidate who makes them think change is actually possible and when he gets in office SHAZAM! - turn those uppidty liberals back into hopeless cynics AND get our policies enacted!

And with that, you have terms like liberal soiled for election cycles to come. Just ask Jimmy Carter.

From my perspective, he's not only not been able to "govern in accordance with Democratic principles", he's failed to point out what they actually are and how far we've been pushed from them.
