Worse, I'd say.... (But not 'unexpected' at all.) After all, the Taliban, (during the later, more moralistic, years of it's rule in Afghanistan), was famously at war with the drug lords... so it just stands to reason the the drug lords haven't forgotten this and are themselves mostly opposed to the idea of the Taliban taking total control again.... (Bad for 'business' don't 'cha know to have all those latter-day Islamic fundamentalist "Carrie Nations" running around....)
