Quantum IR probably doesn't have much to tell the investment community that was not already disclosed and discussed during their last conference call. Has anyone called them recently and asked some pointed questions? Why is everyone so darned upset that QNTM has not performed contrary to the direction of the market and the HD sector? The market for tech stocks continues to be beset by fears that Asian currency and interest problems will spill over into lower sales growth. And there is no way to deny that the agressive pricing for commodity hard drives will not effect Quantum somewhat, even if to a much lesser degree than WDC SGT and other rivals.

Quantum is likely to trade in a range of betweeen 26 and 34 for the next couple of months. If Fall/Christmas consumer and corporate sales are as robust as most analysts and forecasters predict, then this quarter's numbers should come in about in line with current forecasts. However, it is very posible that the institutional analyts have added up the numbers to adjust for recent price declines and figure that some downward adjustment is likely for Quantum's current street estimates. If you think that the HD oversupply and agressive pricing problem is a 1-2 quarter inventory adjustment and prices will not continue to decline much further, then buy the stock now and if it gets hit further.

Maybe the price will move up past the 30 range after options expire this Friday.
