Today, HP's core business id printers and supplies. They tried to buy their way into servers and computers with the acquisition of Compaq etc. But they lacked vision since they were a component company to begin with. Calculators and electrical measuring devices such as meters etc. may be considered as components in the real high tech sense.

So I think HP is planning to go back to its roots.


I have to admit I don't follow the company very closely but their maneuverings during the past few years feel screwed up to me. Again, I don't pay close enough attention so I could be wrong.
