People that I know who are active in Tea Party activities, at least out here in Arizona, are largely libertarians. They advocate limited government, maintenance of personal freedom, and stricter adherance to the Constitution. I'm curious if this is the case in other parts of the country, for instance, in the Deep South.

It is true here in central NC farm country.
Here they also advocate voting voting voting and will welcome and sign up any and all party species for a ballot.

I disagree, the best player for the Republican party is Obama. Due to his reckless hard left progressive agenda and desire to circumnavigate the Constitution he's united conservatives, libertarians and Republicans like none before. The motivation to get his marxists minion out of power has never been greater and will in all likely-hood create the conditions where a landslide is probable.

i haven't read the other replies to your post, but i certainly don't think you are accurate in your allegation that the republican party is being torn apart. i will leave it up to you should you try to find a different expression.

I'll agree with t4texas that torn apart is a bit strong, but there is a struggle for dominance. Although actually there is probably greater consensus with the Tea Party that has more of the libertarian perspective than was the case with the moral majority on social issues. There is though greater division with the banker types if you look at it from the Ron Paul perspective on money and bankers were largely culpable in the mortgage debacle, but his attitude toward defense is less popular here.
