I think this commenter was more on target than Mickey Kaus. praxis7 Actually, the great middle and lower-class hippies were about freedom, the small cadre of people who 'led' the hippie movement were not. They were about overthrow of American government to replace it with something centered in the socialist-communist realm. Those in the middle were cultivated to be used as cannon-fodder for the leftist leaders. They were easily led, unquestioning of their leader's statements - and very easily manipulated. Just like many/most of today's Democrat party: Blacks, women, Hispanics, Gays, upper-crust limousine liberals .. the standard laundry list of guaranteed liberal voters. * * *
