During his campaign, I never heard Obama say that he would don a pair of shoes and walk the picket line. So I did a search.......and he did say it in SC in 2007. He also said during that speech that he would raise the minimum wage a little bit each year instead of waiting years to raise it. He said all this before it was clear we were in a very serious recession.

First of all, I would never expect the POTUS to walk a picket line.......esp. over an issue that has to do with the affairs of a particular state; not the nation as a whole. I really think it would be inappropriate. In addition the financial cost to the nation for such a display would be exorbitant........given the need for security......and esp. dangerous for Obama because of all the death threats he gets as president. In other words, I don't think he was thinking very clearly when he made such a statement and did not recognize the ramifications of what he was saying:

Secondly, I consider the comment re. minimum wage to be an even far more important promise than the one to walk the picket line. Clearly, he has not moved on that promise either. Are we to hold him accountable for that promise even as we know now the recession was much worse than he thought back in 2007? I think that would be a bit unfair. Much has changed from when he was compaigning......I think things have to be taken into context.
