You haven't proved anything, other than that the power of a booming market can overcome the negative effects of higher taxes.

I sure don't see a booming market right now, nor do I see one in the near future.

If you want to raise taxes on long-term cap gains for, well, the long-term, I have no problem with that. In fact, I've always argued for a "flatter" tax rate.

But I will say that the short-term negative effects are going to be substantial. And this is because the very rich people that you want to tax will end up reallocating their funds to minimize their tax exposure.

They always have and they always will. Don't look at what Buffett says, look at what he does.
