In my state - where the economy is doing very well - we have a sales tax and a property tax. If you live in a dump of a house you still pay RE tax, if you buy a hamburger at McDonald's you pay a sales tax. Why is it that only at the level of the federal government we have come to the conclusion that only half the people contribute to the running of our country?
